De Worming & Fecals

We use a dual deworming method;

both Cydectin & Valbazen.

We deworm twice a year - before breeding and after kidding.

If FAMCHA scores or fecals indicate, the individual goat will be dewormed throughout the year PRN.

Selenium/Vit. E / Copper

We currently give Selenium / Vit. E Gel

and Copper Bolus once a year.

We are considering adding a

Selenium Yeast supplement to our

feeding program, but must do

more research first.

Our girls are sheared yearly and receive regular hoof trims.

We hope to add chunks of concrete for them to play on to help keep their hooves trimmed naturally.

Pasteurella

Covexin 8 (Sheep only)

Feeding

All of our goats are fed a mix of the following: sweet feed, rolled oats, alfalfa pellets and Black Oiled Sunflower Seeds. Embarrassingly, we feed them twice a day. However, in our defense, our goats are in a small field with no browse, except for what we bring them. We hope to extend the pasture Summer 2021.

We also feed good quality hay year round, while also keeping a loose mineral mix and selenium blocks available.  And of course, fresh water is filled twice daily. We purposefully use small buckets to ensure they all get cleaned and refilled daily. Our girls are quite picky ~ ONE single goat berry in their water and they won't touch it!
